About Us

Unitarian Universalists of Basel is an open faith community, welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds and orientations. We follow a liberal religious tradition where people are encouraged to think, explore, and question. This is a community where faith is grounded in freedom, faith and reason work together, and where diversity is expected. We believe in morality and ethics based on love, compassion, diversity and co-operation.

We meet to celebrate the miracle of our being, and the wonder and mystery of our universe. We seek to provide a caring accepting community which supports ongoing individual and spiritual growth. We strive to live our values, accepting our individual responsibility to be active in environmental and social concerns in our church, community, and world.

Members of our community travel from as far as Zurich, Bern, and Mulhouse and have gathered one Sunday per month for a worship service, currently in the Lohnhof near Barfusserplatz in Basel.

In November we added a monthly book discussion, and will soon be offering Religious Education for children and adults.

We invite like minded people to help us build a community based on shared values of open mindedness, respect for one another's beliefs, and truth seeking.

We have no creed in the traditional sense but are guided by the seven principles and gain inspiration from the world's great faith traditions. We seek to make the world a better place for all.

The Unitarian Universalist Community of Basel envisions a thriving, supportive, and inclusive community living values of love and respect, supporting one another in spiritual and personal growth, and engaging in social outreach, lifelong learning, and shared ministry.

Please join us.

We are committed to religious education for people of all ages, supporting everyone's individual search for truth and meaning. We offer adult religious discussions following our monthly services, and children's programming during the services, when leaders are available.
